None But You: Will & Dani's Engagement
"You are my heart, my life, my one and only thought."
The White Company, Arthur Conan Doyle
The moment your world changes forever.
That is a moment you want to cherish, you want to relive, and never forget.
When Dani said "yes" to marrying her best friend, it was a moment filled with joy. Complete, utter joy. There was no one but her and Will in that moment. They were oblivious to the world around them. And it made my heart happy to be there to chronicle it.
Photographing them, I saw a selfless love reflected in their faces. Just existing near each other made them glow. I am convinced they are meant to be together, forever. They have overcome the distance of being a dual military couple, and they have fostered a relationship that will endure. Being pilots is not an easy job, but they have overcome the scheduling conflicts, miles apart and hours of study to build a future together.
Between the soulful moments, there were many laughs. If every couple had as much fun as Will and Dani have, I think the world would be a much happier place. They are so comfortable with each other. It is as if when they look at each other, the cares of the world just slip away. And they are just there, enjoying the time they have together.
The military makes time a precious commodity. Perhaps that's because it's a temporary thing: you never know how long you will have with a loved one before they are gone again. And that makes being with each other even more precious. It's as though the sharp, painful thought of being apart makes the joy of togetherness even more poignant.
If I can wish this lovely couple anything, it is that they never forget the moment when Will knelt on the bank of Beaver Lake on a warm February evening and asked Dani to be his one and only love. This is just the first chapter in their story, one I pray will be a very, very long book.
“Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm, for love is strong as death, jealousy is fierce as the grave. Its flashes are flashes of fire, the very flame of the Lord. Many waters cannot quench love, neither can floods drown it. If a man offered for love all the wealth of his house, he would be utterly despised."
Song of Solomon 8:6-7
